Daisy Lloyd (Year 10)

On Friday 21st September, the Year 10 art students spent half of the day drawing significant pieces of architecture inside and outside of St Paul’s Church, Bedford.

We have been studying Ian Murphy’s inspirational visual artwork and have applied it to our drawings. We applied multiple types of drawing techniques such as freehand and line. We have also used different mediums including pencils and pens to emphasise detail in our drawings. Overall, the day helped us increase in our skills of architectural drawing.

Mrs Lugsden, Head of Art and Textiles, said: “The girls were able to respond to the stunning architecture of St. Paul’s church, exploring a number of drawing techniques. Their work will be woven into research around theme of structures, alongside analysing pieces by John Piper.”
