Memorable Christmas Concerts

Senior School Music

To carry on the Christmas theme at the school this week, the Music Department held its annual Christmas Concerts for friends and families in both the Junior and Senior Schools, and what fabulous concerts they were!

On Monday evening, the Randle Hall provided a beautifully atmospheric setting for the wonderful collection of instrumental and vocal solo and ensemble items, ranging from the Junior Recorder & Wind Group and Fife Club to the Junior Rock School and various choral performances arranged and orchestrated by Mr Atkins (Music Teacher).

Alice Everitt had the daunting task of opening the evening with her solo performance of We’re walking in the air from Howard Blakes’ The Snowman and did so with aplomb. This set the tone of an evening of girls demonstrating their potential rightly making parents and staff alike very proud. There were beautiful and talented performances all round, well done to all involved in creating such a beautiful evening.

This was swiftly followed the next evening with the Senior School concert in the beautifully lit Assembly Hall on Tuesday evening. Thank you to Miss Elsom for providing such a beautiful backdrop for the girls to perform. With music from all different year groups, mixtures of solos and ensembles, BGS has proved once again that our musicians are fabulous.

It was wonderful to see the girls collaborating with boys from Bedford School in the opening performance by Consort Choir. Standout performances included Isobel Stearn’s (Upper Sixth) performance of Felix Mendelssohn’s Violin Concerto 1st Movement in E minor op.64, pianist Eva Ng’s (Year 7) performance of Peixun Chen’s, Selling Sundry Goods. It was fantastic to see the breath of repertoire in the concert and the audience left in awe of the stunning performances.

A huge thank you to Mr Keating-Roberts (Director of Music) for directing both concerts. Thank you to all the Visiting Music Teachers and the Music Department staff for putting the concerts together.
