After yet another outstanding House Glee competition, the results have been announced, with Chanel being named overall winners.
Nightingale’s rendition of High School Musical’s, Stick to the Status Quo was a real crowd pleaser, which claimed the best House song title.
Vandita Khinda (Year 4, Chanel) won the Junior individual category, with her expressive and beautiful Indian dance.
Emily Baker (Upper Sixth, Chanel) won the Senior School event: she performed a brilliant acoustic mashup of seven songs from different genres (Nickelback, Ed Sheeran, The Zutons, Vance Joy, Don McLean, Wheatus, and Train). Emily said: “The reason it worked so well was because they were all written in the same key, meaning that the chords were all similar and the rhythm of the strumming could all be similar to all of them.”
The BGS community is already counting down to next year’s House Drama and Glee competitions.
Mrs Jones, Assistant Head, Co-Curriculum, adds: “I am always amazed at how many girls are willing to stand up in front of their peers and perform. Once again, this year the range of acts were fantastic with the girls demonstrating a huge variety of talent, not just singing.
“The quality of performances were incredible and I am particularly pleased to see that so many students are making and writing, which is really impressive.”
