Mrs Whomsley (Head of Year 5)

Last Thursday, as part of their new Unit of Enquiry, Grand Designs, Year 5 were challenged to prepare a proposal for an Eighth Wonder of the World.

The girls have been learning about the Seven Wonders of the World and reflecting on the reasons why these places were chosen. To prepare for their task, the girls worked in small groups to create an argument to justify their choice, which included landmarks varying from the Burj Khalifa to the Leaning Tower of Pisa, Stonehenge and the Sagrada Familia. They then had to choose the most effective way of presenting their views to their peers in order to win their vote.

After visiting each other’s presentations, which took the form of models, iPad presentations and posters, the girls voted that The Statue of Liberty deserved its place in history.

Isabella Clarke said: “It was great fun but we also learnt so much about different places around the world.”
