Investigating bone structure

Junior School Science

Mrs Smart (Head of Science)

This week Year 6 have been practicing their investigative skills through our new enquiry-based curriculum.

The girls have been investigating the structure and strength of bones by adding successively more tubes to an outer tube and measuring how much force the structure can withstand as part of our Biomechanics topic.

The girls are growing in confidence in identifying dependent, independent and control variables, recording data, producing different types of graphs, drawing conclusions and evaluating their results. These are all important transferrable skills, involving critical thinking, which will prepare them not only for their Senior School studies but also for further study and future careers.
