Mrs Lovett (Head of Food and Nutrition)

Many congratulations to Chanel who won last week’s inaugural House Ready Steady Cook competition.

The competition consisted of one pair from each House, made up from staff and students from Years 7 to the Upper Sixth.

The students had access to store cupboard ingredients and were given a ‘mystery box’ of ingredients including chicken, parma ham, cream and more.

We were very impressed by what they achieved in one hour! Staff and students all worked really well together, collaborating effectively, to create something unique.

Students were awarded House Points for their use of the mystery box, they had to be prepared to adapt or abandon their ideas for a better one on the day.

BGS’s Head Chef, Mr Pickard was impressed with Chanel’s winning dish, he said: “The courgette dish was delicious, we will need to find out the recipe, so it can appear on the lunch menu!”
