Senior School CCF

On Sunday 3rd February, 15 Cadets from BGS and Bedford School participated in The Air Squadron Trophy Competition against 18 other schools.

The Combined Cadet Force (RAF) contest is held annually for RAF cadets throughout the country and the regional heat was held at RAF Honington, Suffolk.

Different events were held during the day and the cadets took part in drill, first aid, aircraft recognition, RAF knowledge, a command task (problem solving) and shooting on an indoor laser range. The training for the day took many months and each individual did exceptionally well in every element of the competition.

Our CCF didn’t win, but we didn’t come last! Fitness, knowledge of the syllabus, wearing the uniform correctly (looking very smart on parade) and professionalism are all key factors in such an event, but perhaps the most important is team spirit. The enthusiasm, morale and camaraderie of the cadets are things to cherish and overall it was a great day of friendship and the chance to meet cadets from other schools.

A big thank you to Pilot Officer Mrs Jackson for her help with the training and huge support on the day. Well done to the following Year 10 BGS cadets: Anoushka Harish, Autumn Handscombe, Tasneem Hussain, Anika Dutta, Cerys Peppiatt, Georgia Spencer and Victoria Pinney.
