On Wednesday, the Eco Club held a workshop on how to make beeswax food wraps, the eco-friendly alternative to single-use plastic sandwich bags and cling film.

After watching the initial demonstration, the Eco Clubbers set about cutting their fabric choice to size and, using an iron on a low heat, melting the beeswax pellets all over. Once dried, their finished wraps can then be folded to form pouches for snacks or simply used to cover food leftovers etc.

The wraps benefit from being re-useable (needing only a splash of washing up liquid and a cool water to clean), and due to beeswax possessing preservative properties help food to last longer and stay fresher, thus reducing food waste. They will also brighten up any lunchbox or picnic hamper!
