Informal Lunchtime Concerts

Senior School Music

Mrs McKinnell (Music Teacher)

Every term, the Senior School girls host an Informal Lunchtime Concert in the Assembly Hall to which the School community, including parents, students, teachers and alumnae are invited.

This term was a little different. So many girls applied to take part in the concert that we ended up spreading the event over two separate lunchtimes: Tuesday 19th and Wednesday 27th February. We were thrilled to have such a large uptake.

Both concerts were well attended and featured a wealth of performances of a very high standard.  The breadth of musical content within the events was huge, with girls performing everything from an unaccompanied classical guitar work, to a Carnatic song, to songs from musical theatre, a first movement of a concerto for the violin, a cornet solo, and plenty more besides.

We were also privileged to hear a performance from the Year 9 group who won the ‘Cover Song Competition’ from the Autumn Term, which was entered by all students studying music in Years 7, 8 and 9.  The winners in Year 9, Anna Matthew, Scarlet Stokes and Emmie Rose Stephens performed their cover of a Jorja Smith Song, proving why they had won.
