Mrs Thomas (Year 5 teacher)

There was a real buzz of energy and excitement in the Junior School yesterday as Year 5 took part in a busy and action packed Activity Day with Bedford Prep School. The girls spent half the day at Bedford Prep School and the other half the day hosting activities here.

All of the children rose to the range of challenges they faced within their newly met teams. The activities included: building a sturdy and rigid bridge out of newspaper and masking tape for a car to cross a canyon; a scavenger hunt around the school gardens, finding questions and solving clues; guiding their blind folded partner over a set of obstacles.

There was also a range of team building activities, where pupils collaborated within a team to plan survival of a plane Crash in the Antarctic, they had to consider which items would be most useful and provide reasoned justifications for their ideas.

Here are some pupil quotes from the day:

“It was a fun day full of communication and teamwork!”

“The day was filled with laughter and excitement and I made lots of new friends.”

“A memorable day! I had to be open-minded and listen to the ideas of others.”
