Many congratulations to talented golf star Roisin Scanlon (Year 6) who produced a fine golfing display at the 12th annual USKids European Golf Championships (28th-30th May), claiming the top spot in the age 11 category.

Despite the unkind weather, Roisin had an amazing week of golf at the Royal Musselburgh Golf Course in Scotland.

Competing against the world’s best young golfers, Roisin shot -2 on the first day and one over par the following day. She was one shot off the lead behind Lavanya Gupta of India and Juliette Demeaux of France.

On the final round, the lead changed many times but only Roisin and Isabella Dovhey of USA (2018 champion) shot under par. Both Isabella and Roisin finished on 2 under par which resulted in a sudden death playoff. After 5 playoff holes, Roisin kept her nerve and became champion.

Roisin reflected on the championship, she said: “It was an honour to compete with the best 11 year old girls in the world and to come out victorious was a bonus. I had a lot of fun and made strong friendships for life.”
