On Monday morning, Year 5 had a wonderful surprise when Amelia Morris brought in some butterflies she had grown from caterpillars.

Amelia was gifted caterpillars for her birthday last month, after four weeks of nurturing they had grown into beautiful butterflies. She decided it would be symbolic and important for the butterflies to be released into the Junior School gardens.

Amelia said: “I thought it would be great for our class to help release the butterflies. We went round the Junior School gardens, finding the best location where they would be happiest. After carefully deciding the best location, we let them out in the flowers beds.

“I felt like the conservationist Jane Goodall, who we have been learning about in science, just with butterflies instead as we were setting them free”
