Mr Mason-Mcleod (Head of Hockey)

Senior hockey player, Florence Miller (Year 11), has been selected to be part of the England Hockey U16 Assessment squad after a very successful Futures Cup tournament in August.

Florence and her Under 15 team, the Saxon Tigers, won the gold medal, winning all their games throughout the four-day England Hockey tournament. She found the back of the net in her very first match playing for the squad.

The National Age Group (NAGs) Coaches attended the tournament, looking to spot those showing the greatest talent, for NAGs Selection and through her hard work, Florence has been selected to the U16 England Assessment squad.

Maddie Axford recently represented England U18 Girls out in Eindhoven, in the Six Nations Tournament. Maddie’s team beat Ireland 2-0, with Maddie setting up the second goal, beat Spain 3-0, drew against a very strong Netherlands team and lost 3-1 to Germany. They drew with Belgium in their last game with Maddie setting up another goal. The U18 team claimed a bronze medal, which is a great achievement.

Finally congratulations to our players who have been selected for the U15 and U17 England Hockey Performance Centre (Northwood) for the 2019/2020 Season. Players are nominated to attend a Performance Centre by their Academy Centre. Players can be nominated from the U15 and U17 age groups. Players who consistently demonstrate strong skills for their counties and then in the Performance Centre Assessment days are invited to Performance Centres with the hope of going on to represent England at international level.
