Mrs Inkson (Year 5 Teacher)

On Thursday, half of Year 5 spent an exciting morning exploring Bedford town centre. To support their Unit of Enquiry on Role Models, the girls wanted to find out if there are any local people who could be role models.

The girls we went out hunting for the numerous blue plaques and monuments that commemorate famous local people. You would not believe how many were found and the many questions generated during the walk. The girls even found a gold post box dedicated to Olympic gold medal-winning canoeist, Etienne Stott.

In class, the girls are going to spend time researching the names of the local people they discovered in Bedford and find out and why it was decided to commemorate them with a blue plaque or monument.

Next week, the other two Year 5 classes will have the opportunity to go out exploring…
