Zena Breed, Charlie Duce and Amelia Morris (Year 6) 

A very unfortunate murder took place on Wednesday 9th October. The victim, Dr Dougal McBrain was working on a new investigation for scientists. The suspects are: Prof. Vladimir Kleverclogski, James Brass, River-Rose Smith and Lina Van Zinc.

Clothes Fibers

When Dr Dougal McBrain was murdered, he managed to grab some fibers from the murderer’s clothes. The Crime Scene fibers were not coloured. Prof. Vladimir Kleverclogski`s fibers were black, James Brass’ fibers were coloured, River- Rose Smith’s fibers were not coloured and Lina Van Zinc fibers were not coloured and were very similar to the crime scene. Was this because she worked in the same lab as Dougal McBrain or did she do the murder?

Now we only have three suspects: James Brass, River-Rose Smith and Lina Van Zinc, because Prof. Vladimir Kleverclogski’s fibers do not match the crime scene at all.

Fingerprints

When we went to the crime scene, we found a note and a wine glass. The note said meet me at 8 pm, and the wine glass was covered with fingerprints, which we studied. The crime scene fingerprint was a whorl, James Brass`s fingerprint was a double loop, Lina Van Zinc`s fingerprint was a whorl and River-Rose Smith`s fingerprint was a loop.

Blood

We also found some blood samples on the desk. When we added the antiserum to the crime scene, it went lighter and foggy. The results for James Brass's blood was that when we added the antiserum it just stayed the same. Lina Van Zinc‘s blood stayed dark, just like James Brass’, the blood did not match the crime scene. However, River-Rose Smith`s blood went lighter and foggy just like the crime scene the blood, so River- Rose Smith has the same blood as the crime scene.

Conclusion

In conclusion, we all agreed that it was River-Rose Smith, as we think that all the clues lead to her. Dr Dougal McBrain was having a glass of wine, as Lina Van Zinc after she had not got a promotion, that explains the fingerprints. River-Rose Smith was disguised in same lab coat as Lina Van Zinc, that explains the fabric fibers. After that, we believe that River-Rose and Dr Dougal got into a fight then blood had been spilt. Even though River-Rose Smith covered her traces up well, she is now caught and is currently spending her time in prison.
