Senior School Hockey

Martin Mason-McLeod (Head of Hockey)

It’s been a fantastic first half term of hockey with the Years 3-Upper Sixth improving on their skills each lesson and the U9s upwards having the chance to represent the school. The U11s, U12, U14a and b and U15s have all been county champions in their respective tournaments and the U13s placed second to also qualify for the East Regional Finals.

The U13s also became Bedford and Kempston Partnership hockey champions on Monday, really improving over the tournament. The U10s played their first tournament on Wednesday and U9s play their first matches this Saturday. The U12s had a very enjoyable day at the East U12 Finals, losing only 1-0 to the eventual winners and ending up a creditable fifth place overall in the East.

At BGS, we give every girl the opportunity that turns up to practice the chance to represent the school, and we are very proud to put out A-E teams in many age groups and cater for the elite and the beginners who are starting their hockey careers. Good luck to all teams for the rest of the season including the U11s who have their National IAPS Final and East Finals, the U13 and U14a and b who will be competing in the East Regional rounds, the U15s who are still in the Independent Schools Cup and the First team that are playing against Stowe in the next round of the England Hockey Cup competition.
