Congratulations to future golf star Roisin Scanlon (Year 7), who claimed the Bedfordshire Schools Scratch Championship Under 16 and 18 titles on Wednesday 16th October.

This year’s championship was held at the Bedfordshire Golf Club. Roisin, who is currently a member of the club used her local knowledge to her advantage and came away with winning both the Under 16 and 18 championship titles. Roisin will be representing the school at both the South East of England Schools Championships and the English Schools Under 16 National Championships in 2020.

She said : “I am so pleased I was successful in defending my under 16 title I won last year and to add the under 18 title was a real bonus. I am really looking forward to representing Bedford Girls’ School at national events next year.”

On Monday, Roisin will be competing in the prestigious Justin Rose Telegraph Junior Golf Championships 2019 final, hosted by Quinta do Lago, Portugal. She will be joined by 11 other girls and 12 boys and will be the youngest player and one of youngest players ever to qualify for the finals. BGS and the wider community will be cheering Roisin all the way.
