This week, Mrs Woodhouse’s (Year 6 teacher) and Mrs Copp’s (Deputy Head, Junior School) Maths groups collaborated on a short enterprise project called Movie Marathon, which involved analysing data and costs associated with a running a movie or theatre.

Using their skills in calculation (division and multiplication methods), problem solving and mathematical creativity, the girls worked in teams to analyse factors such as tickets and staff costs and theatre overheads. The girls then communicated their findings through a final presentation to their peers.

Cecelia Linden said: “I have made progress and have a deeper understanding of my skills.”

Nivashini Thayaparan said: “I have become more confident with long division. I also became more knowledgeable to choose the most appropriate methods when problem solving.”
