On Wednesday morning, Year 3 took to the streets of Bedford to discover how people and events in the past are represented in our local area.

It was a brilliant start to our next Unit of Inquiry, Where we are in Place in time, which has a social studies theme and looks into the orientation in place and time, specifically how the contributions of individuals and groups within communities are recognised and why, and how, we choose to remember certain events and individuals.

Using the locality of Bedford Town Centre, the girls were able to determine the ways in which individuals or groups are remembered and understand that it is not always in a physical form.

The girls were really inspired by the trip and it generated many questions for them to investigate further. There is no doubt that we are extremely lucky to have such an excellent local resource.
