Our Senior School swimmers enjoyed a spot of warm weather training in the beautiful surroundings of Paphos, Cyprus during half term. The girls swam every day in an Olympic sized swimming pool and improved upon their already excellent swimming skills. That said, it wasn’t all hard work as the girls also visited a waterpark and enjoyed all the facilities in the luxurious Aliathon Resort.
Cecilia Kilpatrick and Lottie Giles (Year 9) reflect on their experience:
“Cyprus was amazing; from the brilliant weather to the really long outdoor training pool! During the week, we worked really hard, with early morning technique sessions and high intensity training in the afternoon. We really felt the progress was made with each session, especially when a few land training sessions were thrown in. Mr Castro (Head of Swimming) also introduced us to the world of open water swimming, the sea was so warm and it was a great experience swimming with all the fish. It was also great fun spending so much time with each other and enjoying the facilities at the hotel.
“After being very well behaved and training extremely hard, we visited a water park. We had the best time! There was a vertical drop slide and cannon drop where you shot out at the end of a slide and fall two metres into the pool. The highlight of the afternoon was being able to go on all the amazing slides with our friends. Cyprus was fantastic and we can’t wait until the next warm weather swimming training camp.”
