Art & Textiles Senior School

Mrs Lugsden (Head of Art and Textiles)

It has been wonderful to see the Art and Textiles rooms buzzing again after being empty for so long. Thursday 25th June saw the return of the Lower Sixth students, who had a great day working on their coursework in both Art and Textiles. They made full use of the materials and equipment in the studios, and it was wonderful to see the live research they have been working on at home. We are incredibly proud of the manner in which they have remained motivated and enthusiastic about their research.

The Year 10 students have been in school this week; in Textiles they have had the opportunity to develop felt samples and batik work - all valuable trials and samples that work to support their current research, exploring the theme of Overgrown. In Art, they spent the day having drawing tuition, and the resulting work gave them invaluable evidence for their current Still Life project. It was also a fantastic opportunity to give girls verbal feedback on the research they have be completing at home. The students not only gained much practical evidence and experiences, they also had the opportunity to speak with friends that they had not seen for a while - a truly invaluable experience at this time.
