We are delighted to announce that creative writer, Karissa Singh (Lower Sixth), has had her poem published in The Litmus: Writing in Common project. Organised by Trinity College, Cambridge, the writing initiative invited students in Years 9 to Upper Sixth to submit an artwork and/or 500 words in poetry, prose or any other format that considers the phrase ‘In Common’.
Karissa said: “I have always been interested in creative writing of all sorts, so when I came across The Litmus competition, I was determined to get involved.
“All entrants had to submit a creative piece on the theme/phrase ‘In Common’ and I decided to write a poem based on the reflection of a young girl. The poem addresses both the concept of a literal reflection trapped inside a mirror, and the reflection of a young girl who is conflicted with the desire to be a different, greater girl than she presently is. I thoroughly enjoyed writing this piece, and am extremely thankful for the opportunity to get published as a young writer in the making! A published paperback book will be sent to me at the end of the year.”
