Mrs Axford (Assistant Head)

Since lockdown began in March, there have been many Remote House Competitions taking place. Every entry contributed to the final total and anyone who was placed 1st, 2nd and 3rd or Highly Commended scored even more points for their House.

In a quick round up; Hepburn won the 7’s Challenge the wall ball catching competition, Austen the Photo competition of Something the colour of your House. Chanel won both the House of Cards competition with the winning entry from Avani Tambe (Year 10) Chanel and the Stay ART Home competition, although the individual winner of the Stay ART Home competition was Kady Jones (Lower Sixth) Franklin. Hepburn also won the Do something Active over the bank Holiday weekend photo competition.

Nightingale then seemed to wake up in May and went on a winning streak with top spot in both the 3D Craft competitions, despite first places going to Ella Turner (Lower Sixth)) Hepburn and Sophie Watson (Year 11) Hepburn respectively, indicating that it is not all about the winning but rather the number and quality of entries from each House too. Nightingale also won the Design a card to celebrate Eid where there were three entries sharing 1st place, Hanifah Mia (Year 9) Hepburn, Daisy Minney (Lower Sixth) Austen and Jaya Chambers (Lower Sixth) Nightingale and the highly popular Bake Off competition with Ella Coupland (Year 3) Nightingale scoring most points overall over the 8 weeks of competitions. Nightingale also won the Maths Twitter Challenge with 367 entries over the first half of the summer term.

The Time Capsule Competition was won by Kaila Hill (Year 8) Hepburn and the Everyday Objects into Fun Illustrations competition was won by Katherine Whitehead (Lower Sixth) Nightingale with her Witch on a Broomstick.

Franklin won the Lower Sixth House team quiz competition but Nightingale snuck the top position overall in the final competition before sports day, the House Dance competition although the individual winner was Danae Karavaggelis (Year 7) from Hepburn.

Once all the points had been added up from September 2019 through to July 2020, the final points and placings can be seen below, with Nightingale claiming the House Cup for 2019-20!

Well done to all of those who have taken part in House competition this year!
