What a week 4S have had! On Tuesday, the girls felt so lucky to have a visitor in to speak to them, and were even more excited to know it was actually Dr Aelangovan, Varsha’s (Year 4) mum!

The girls showed they have been exploring the concept of health in their inquiries, and had lots to contribute to the discussions. Dr Aelangovan raised many important indicators of stress, and how we can help ourselves to maintain our mental as well as physical health. The girls have lots of ideas to help family members when they get stressed after a busy day at work!

This morning, the girls welcomed our second expert visitor into our classroom to recap on previous learning about the digestive system. Miss Dawson (Senior School Biology Teacher), Lottie’s (Year 4) mum, demonstrated using a food processor and a pair of tights, how food is mixed and mulched in the stomach, and then squeezed into the small intestines. It was quite a messy process, and was met with lots of oohs and aahs as the waste was squeezed out at the end. The girls then saw how long the intestines are as Miss Dawson stretched out a woolly representation of the digestive system. Wonderful practical learning!
