Whole School Music

Mrs McKinnell (Music Teacher)

On the final day of last half term, the Music Department released our latest remote event, An Evening with Strings.  There has been a series of An Evening with events over the duration of this academic year, including evenings with GCSE Music, A Level Music and Keyboards. As a string player myself, this event lay close to my heart, and I am very proud of all the performers involved and their wonderful performances.

The event features performances from Years 7 to 13, and includes some nice variety with pieces both accompanied and unaccompanied, solo and ensemble, and from all the orchestral string instruments.  I would like to thank the parents who helped by accompanying their daughters, and every student involved, all of whom were hugely independent in practising and recording their pieces.

The Esperanza String Quartet rounds the concert off, performing Pachelbel’s Canon, for which they learnt their parts individually, performed them along to a guide track at home, sent me in their individual videos from which I have compiled their final performance.  I hope you enjoy listening to the concert, HERE.

If anybody is particularly inspired by this event and would like to begin learning a string instrument on our return to school, please do contact me to set this up.
