Junior School LRC

The Junior School Learning and Resources Centre (LRC) collection policy aims to add books to the collection that support pupils in all aspects of their education and wellbeing. This includes resources designed to introduce students to new hobbies, global issues and celebrate religious festivals and world events.

Two recent addition to the Junior School library are the creation of a Shelf Help and Fiction Foreign Language collections.

Shelf-Help Collection

Mrs Jhall (Senior LRC Assistant) has created a Shelf-Help resource that she states “will help each student with their physical, emotional, social, environmental and spiritual journey through life. All publications are age appropriate and allow a younger child struggling with their feelings to learn through pictures, stories and activities”.

The collection is proving to be extremely popular, allowing students to learn more about their own feelings and concerns as well as understanding those of others around them.

Foreign Language - Fiction Resources

In support of the Junior Schools Primary Years Programme and the IB philosophy that runs throughout BGS, the Junior Library recognises the importance of allowing the girls, whose first language is not English, to read in their mother tongue. The LRC is dedicated to increasing our foreign language resources and looks forward to expanding our collection.

If you have any donations that you think might allow us to increase the diversity of the languages offered, we would love to hear from you. Please email [email protected]
