Pictured – Grace and Nancy with their prized lambs

Last week, we featured some of our amazing BGS community and sporting achievements during the summer. This week, we are highlighting young farmers, Nancy (Year 4) and Grace Randall (Year 6), and talented equestrian, Charlie Smith (Year 4).

Last year, Nancy and Grace entered the Young Handlers class with their prized lambs at the Bucks County Show. Grace placed 3rd and Nancy received a special rosette for the competition. This year, unfortunately the show wasn’t on due to the pandemic, however both girls have been hard at work caring for their young livestock. This involves bottle feeding them and checking on them regularly in the field. Nancy and Grace are looking forward to next year where they will be doing lots more shows with Young Farmers, a brilliant youth organisation dedicated to supporting young people involved in agriculture and the countryside.

Charlie excelled at the Selston Equestrian Centre where she won Reserve best in show with her pony, Ollie. In achieving this prize, Charlie had to win her class and then win a championship class in her section. She then entered the evening performance and won supreme champion for her section which gave her a place in the final class of the day (Best in Show). She faced a panel of established judges and achieved 2nd (Reserve Best in Show Champion).
