Mrs Martin (Head of Year 3)

On Monday afternoon, Year 3 began their investigation into Who We Are, their first Unit of inquiry. They were set the challenge to recreate Bedford’s Butterfly Bridge using a form they felt most comfortable with. They were able to choose from written form, creative form or mathematical form, using a range of resources to support them. Some worked interpedently and others collaboratively.

The purpose behind the activity was to explore how we like to work and what feelings and emotions we might encounter when facing new situations. Lots of the girls were able to think about how well they communicated their ideas, how open-minded they were to the ideas of others and how prepared they were to take risks. They finished reflecting on how each of these learner attributes could be improved next time.

It was an interesting way to embed how unique we all are, but that we belong to a community that works better together.
