This year, the Service Team have chosen to donate our annual food collection to the Bedford FoodBank.
The Bedford Foodbank is a charity which provides emergency food and compassionate, dignified support to people locked in crisis.
Bedford Foodbank’s volunteers work with referral partners to provide a minimum of three days emergency food and support to people experiencing crisis in our community. Last year Trussell Trust foodbanks in the UK gave food over 1 million times to people experiencing food poverty.
The items donated will really benefit others, especially in the run up to Christmas and over the winter months. The collection will run until Thursday 9th December. This year, please bring items to the Balcony in the Assembly Hall during form time and break time during the collection period and place in the boxes provided.
Suggested items include:
Pasta/Rice/Lentils
Boxes of cereal/oats
Cartons of juice/ long life milk
Coffee/tea/hot chocolate
Biscuits and cereal bars
In addition, this year we will also be collecting non-food items and warm clothing. As well as supporting the Foodbank, these items will be distributed to local charities which support the homeless in Bedford. Please see a full list here.
It has been an incredibly difficult 18 months for many people, so if you and your family are able to give even one or two items from this list, it would be hugely beneficial and very much appreciated by someone else.
Thank you in anticipation of your support.
