The Junior School Leadership Group (JSLG) provides a platform for our Year 6 students to have a real impact in the school and the wider community. Within the group are various roles and responsibilities, ranging from house representations to sports co-ordinators and more. Girls are voted in by their teachers, following an application process, and hold the roles for the duration of the academic year.
In addition to these roles and responsibilities, we also find time to collaborate on different events. Our first combined event this year has been preparing for the festive season in the form of the Christmas Decorating Party. We have also spent lunchtimes wrapping the gifts donated for the tombola stall at the Christmas Fayre on Saturday. .
JSLG members, Flora, Grace and Ayesha reflected on the Christmas Decorating Party, which took place on Monday evening: “We really enjoyed the JSLG Christmas Decorating Party because it was a really fun event that brought us together as a team. We had great fun decorating the Christmas trees and it was amazing being given the responsibility to bring light and joy to the Junior School. In this activity, we really had to use our teamwork skills wisely because we had to work together to decorate the school. We had to think about what decorations to put where and also had to think about where it would benefit the other girls in the Junior School the most. Communication was really important too and we needed to listen to everyone’s ideas. Overall, we had a great time and we would love to do it again”.
