Sixth Form

With this year’s UCAS application process now completed, the Upper Sixth are receiving plenty of offers for the wide range of courses applied to.

90% of the current Upper Sixth cohort have applied to university this year (with an additional seven taking gap years). The Bridge Careers Service has also supported eight Alumnae through their UCAS applications following gap years. Students have, once again, chosen an incredibly broad range of subjects, including Aerospace Engineering, Egyptology, Geoscience, Geography, Mathematics with Philosophy, Textile Design, Land Management, French and Scandinavian Studies, Economics, Animation, Politics, and Biochemistry, to name a few!

Mrs Whitlock (Head of The Bridge Careers Service) said: “I am always highly impressed with how students approach their UCAS applications, and this year is no exception. I think that the diverse selection of degrees being applied to reflects the fantastic research and evaluation this year’s Upper Sixth have undertaken in order to find the courses, and the universities, that best suit them.

“They have all been incredibly well-organised, with the vast majority submitting their UCAS applications well before the Christmas holiday. Of these, the number of students who have now received decisions from all five of their university choices is growing daily – no mean feat given that the official UCAS deadline for applications is still a fortnight away.

“We will continue to support the students during the remainder of the school year, including offering advice on making firm and insurance choices, applying for student finance, and being ready for living away from home. Our Lower Sixth students will also soon be starting their own university application journeys with the Higher Education afternoon and evening next month. Being as well informed as possible in Lower Sixth enables students to more confidently make choices about their futures in Upper Sixth - we look forward to following the progress of all our Sixth Form students with great interest!”
