Miss Bentley (PE Teacher)
BGS travelled to Wycombe Abbey last Saturday in their first tennis fixture of the term. All teams used a timed games format, playing as many games as possible in the time given. The Senior A team competed in a well-matched fixture, with a lot of close games, drawing 39-39, BGS ultimately winning by two sets, with Milly James in particular having an impressive afternoon. The Senior B team faced a little more resistance from Wycombe and eventually lost their fixture.
The U14 A and B team faced a very strong Wycombe team and persevered with some challenging games, losing out overall. Isabelle Wright and Charlotte Brackenbury deserve a special mention for taking the most amount of games from their opponents.
The U12A and B teams put in dominant performances coming out victorious on the day. Daisy Smith and Nazor Onuekwusi only conceded 2 games all afternoon and won a massive 25 games, fantastic work you pair! Both teams won every timed match that they played, very well done to all of you. Miss Higginson also commended the U12 teams for scoring their first tennis fixture so well!
The U13 A team had a mixed set of results with Wycombe eventually coming out on top and the U13 B team narrowly lost by 3 games after playing 83 games in total.
A fabulous day of tennis was had by all, with some fantastic performances both individually, and as a team. Hopefully tomorrow’s fixture against Kimbolton School will take place in the sunshine!
