On Thursday 15th September, our Work the Room event will be returning, providing our Upper Sixth students with an interactive experience and gaining some vital skills for the years ahead.
The event is led by Mrs Whitlock (Head of The Bridge Careers Service) who herself is an Executive Coach.
The students attend an initial invaluable workshop, which enables the students participating to prepare for the modern world by learning important networking skills, making a good impression and building networks. These are all essential skills, which are transferable as they apply for university and forge ahead in the working world. The event begins as an interactive workshop for the students covering areas such as preparing for a social business event, initiating and leaving conversations, communication styles and how to develop a short ‘elevator pitch’.
Following the workshop, the students have the opportunity to practise their networking skills over a drink’s reception style environment with a number of invited guests. The guests will comprise a mix of alumnae, parents and friends of the school, all of whom have had plenty of experience at business socialising and willing to share their know-how. We would also be delighted to involve any further BGS parents that might be interested in lending their expertise and helping our students become effective networkers. It is a super opportunity to find out more about Sixth Form life.
