Many congratulations to our talented U15 hockey players who won a bronze medal at the coveted England Hockey tier 3 National Finals at Nottingham on Monday 6th February.
On a frosty and chilly morning, the players embarked for Nottingham Hockey Centre ready for a day of highly competitive hockey. However, on arrival, all five hockey pitches were frozen and play was delayed to 11.15am and games shortened to 10 minutes each way.
This gave Mr Mason-Mcleod (Head of Hockey) and Mr Rattu (Hockey Coach) time to give an in-depth team talk before the U15s 1st game which resulted in a 3-1 win against Eggar’s School.
Next up was Oswestry School, which finished with a 1-0 win. The Last game was against The Tiffin Girls' School, with BGS only needing a draw to qualify for the final. Unfortunately, the game ended 1-0 to Tiffin and BGS finished 2nd in our group and qualified for the bronze medal play-off game.
BGS played Sevenoaks School in their bronze match. Lucy Nissen struck the ball from the far post to give BGS a 1-0 lead. This led to a nail-biting finish, resulting in BGS claiming a bronze medal!
Congratulations to the following players:
