Junior School

By Mrs Schofield (Head of Year 4)

On Tuesday, the Randle Hall was buzzing with excitement as our Year 4 girls, and the boys from Bedford Prep School, came together for our annual Performing Arts Activity morning.

In mixed groups, the children were transported to the wizarding world of Harry Potter. Mrs Redford (Head of Speech and Drama) challenged the children to create shapes of beasts and buildings together, requiring them to communicate their ideas effectively and work as a team. They also used their acting skills to walk and behave as members of the four distinct Houses at Hogwarts.

Miss Bream (Dance teacher) inspired the groups to move to evocative theme music and create a dynamic fast flowing dance incorporating wand movements and powerful freeze frames. Finally, their third activity was to create mysterious Haiku’s with Year 4 teachers, Mrs Baker and Miss Coote. The groups created their poems by gathering keywords then agreeing each line of these distinctive poems. It really was wonderful to see the girls and boys become relaxed in each other’s company and learn to communicate their ideas and listen to others to achieve their goal.
