Junior School Charity

Inspirational pupil, Charis Mills (Year 6), is raising awareness of the Little Princess Trust charity by having her hair locks lopped off and raising important funds in the process.

We spoke to Charis about her campaign, she said: “I cut 21 inches of my hair for charity on Tuesday 28th February. I had wished for it to be cut and donated for a long period of time, and now it has come true! I first started to raise funds and, in a few days, we started to get quite a lot. Now we have raised enough (roughly £1,235) for two wigs to be provided for children who would need them. My target was £500 and in one day we were over! I wanted to donate in honour of a friend, she may not necessarily be getting my hair but I would like to think how the person who will receive my hair would appreciate it.

“I really loved cutting my hair and surprisingly it is my first ever hair cut! I used to have trims but since my hair was so long, a trim would be 4-6 inches. I think many children will benefit from the wigs but there are still many in need of them. I would like to encourage many people to donate their hair (or money) to this cause and just remember, everything (even a small amount) helps!”
