By Ms Rogers (LRC Manager)
The summer term marks the start of the annual Yoto Carnegie Book Shadowing Scheme.
Librarian’s across the country have worked tirelessly to select a shortlist of seven Young Adult (YA) titles from a longlist of over 40 recommendations. The final seven publications have been selected as critically acclaimed and outstanding examples of newly published literature.
These books are well-written and contain storylines designed to provoke thought.
Young people from all around the UK are now invited to read and evaluate these titles and decide who they want as their overall winner. Participants will be provided access to all resources and support from LRC staff.
Participating in the Carnegie Book Shadowing Scheme is a great addition to any future personal statements or employment applications. It increases the student’s awareness of new authors, titles, and trends in YA literature. Books are read independently, in their own free-time and at their own pace. There is no requirement to read all of the titles but we recommend trying at least three.
