By Mrs Whomsley (Year of Year 5)

Year 5 had an exciting start to their week, stargazing in our visiting Planetarium on Monday. As part of their new Unit of Inquiry How the World Works, each class spent time in the Planetarium discovering more about our universe and using the experience to begin to develop their own questions about what they would like to find out. It was a fantastic introduction to our unit and certainly felt like we were visiting space, whilst we were still within the school hall!

Pupils followed on from their visit by reflecting on what we need to find out about our solar system and our future research areas to investigate our first Line of Inquiry.

Next week, we will be visiting the Space Centre to discover more about space travel and technology. An exciting start to our new school year!

Reflections from the pupils below:

Jaya (5B) “It was amazing because it almost felt like you were in space and it was so peaceful”

Anna (5R): “The Planetarium was fantastic, it was so much fun. It inspired me to learn more about space. I was so excited and really enjoyed learning about the planets.”

Isla (5W) “It was a nice experience when you laid down – there was lots to learn about and pretty things to see in Space. It was like you were actually there!”

Siena (5W): “I thought it was really interesting and I think it was cool that it showed how it was and how it changed over time. It showed us some really fun facts too!”
