In Year 3, a thrilling expedition into the heart of Bedford Town Centre marked the start of our newest unit of inquiry. Our theme, Exploring the Past Shapes Our Future ignited a flame of curiosity in our students as they embarked on a detective's quest. Engaged as historical investigators, they delved into the town's nooks and crannies, examining how our community honours its most influential figures.

Guided by their own inquiry, the girls identified plaques, statues, and monuments, unveiling the intricate web, linking Bedford's historical tapestry with the present. The journey was a deep dive into the rich history woven into the fabric of our town.

The girls’ discovery kindled a multitude of questions, forming the cornerstone of our subsequent explorations.

On Monday morning, their enthusiasm reached new heights when a chest brimming with historical artefacts was unveiled. Each artefact became a focal point for connecting with pivotal historical figures and diverse periods of time. Each piece promises a gateway to the past, offering insights into our inquiry's essence, how the past echoes into our present and shapes our future.

As we delve deeper into Bedford's history, we invite our young learners to embrace the past with open minds, recognising its impact on the world they inhabit today.
