Since November last year, students from the Lower and Upper Sixth have met with Sixth Form students from Bedford School to work towards delivering three citizenship talks. This is the third year of successful collaborations between BGS and Bedford School, with each year bringing new ideas.
Students from the Lower and Upper Sixth have been working towards the second of the three citizenship talks, this time delivered to the Year 9 students at BGS.
On Wednesday, the 14th of February, we met with the students from Bedford School for a breakfast prepared by Chequers Café to discuss final arrangements and how we should approach the breakout rooms with individual forms of 25 students at BGS.
At the start of the morning Zac and Charlie from Bedford School and I, gave a presentation discussing online sexual harassment to the year group before sending them off into breakout rooms led by a group of Sixth Form students from each school. Monitored by form teachers, they led discussions on the handling of online harassment and informed them of the available support.
Overall, we are so proud of the students who showed competence in explaining complex information and bravery for presenting difficult information to new faces.
Looking forward, we will start to plan our third session, where we hope to bring students from both schools together so they can engage in group discussions.
