On Thursday 8th February 2024, our Upper Sixth A Level Drama and Theatre students completed the final performance of their course. The Text in Performance non-examined assessment requires learners to realise their artistic intentions in either performance or design and the students, once again, shone in the execution.
The exam, overseen by an external examiner, welcomed an audience, and the students delivered exceptional performances. They showcased nuanced acting and skilful lighting, navigating monologues and duologues with touching and powerful renditions. The selected texts provided ample opportunity for the students to demonstrate their performance abilities, culminating in a display of their learning throughout the A Level course. Transitioning to Greek Theatre, the students left the audience stunned, impressed and deeply affected by their commanding stage presence and visceral performances.
The afternoon was a true demonstration of the power that theatre has - the students transcended the walls of the Studio Theatre and surpassed all expectations. We were incredibly proud of all students and whilst we do not know the marks at present, we are hopeful that the examiner was equally impressed.
A big thank you also must go to Ms Emberson (Drama Teacher) and Miss Elsom (Theatre and Events Technician) for supporting the students and the facilitation of the exam.
The students will now focus on their written paper before their final examination on Thursday 6th June 2024.
