Our Year 6 students recently showcased their burgeoning filmmaking talents during the One Day Film School event. The day was packed with engaging activities, expert-led workshops, and culminated in an exciting awards ceremony.

The morning sessions were dedicated to mastering the essentials of filmmaking: Film History; Fight Choreography; Camera Techniques and Screenwriting. With their new skills in hand, the students were ready for the 10 Shot Challenge. Working in groups, they had to create silent films, each up to two minutes long, accompanied by music.

The highlight of the day was the 2024 BGS Oscars event. Judges, including Mr Powell (Deputy Head of Junior School) and representatives from the Young Film Academy, gathered for the premiere of the students' films. The atmosphere was electric as each film was screened, showcasing the creativity and hard work of the young filmmakers.

Awards were given in three categories: Best Motion Picture, celebrating the overall best film. Best Performance: acknowledging outstanding acting. Best Technical Achievement: honouring excellence in technical aspects such as cinematography and editing.

The One Day Film School was a fantastic experience for the Year 6 students, providing them with a comprehensive introduction to the world of filmmaking. It was a day of learning, creativity and celebration, leaving the students inspired and eager to continue exploring their filmmaking passions.
