Whole School Rowing

By Mrs Reeves (Director of Rowing)

On Saturday 15th June, the rowing community came together to celebrate the season so far at our Garden Party and Awards Ceremony.

Despite the weather forcing us to relocate to the Assembly Hall, rowers, coaches, supporters and their families enjoyed a lovely afternoon together; catching up with friends, enjoying music played by our talented students and a glass of Pimms!

Throughout the season, particularly every weekend through the regatta season, we enjoy the support and hospitality of the Friends of BGS Rowing. On behalf of all of the rowers and the coaching team I would like to extend a huge thank you to everybody involved with the Friends of BGS Rowing. I would also like to extend a huge thank you to each and every member of the coaching team - Miss Harris, Mr McEwen, Mr Moss, Miss Moore and Miss Howe - we would not be able to offer such an extensive and engaging programme without you.

And last but certainly not least, to our rowers and coxes - thank you for your endless enthusiasm, smiling faces at early morning sessions, and for the time and commitment you put into your rowing alongside all of your other commitments - it does not go unnoticed, and it is an absolute pleasure to work with you all. In addition to the awards presented, we have so much as a full club to celebrate - rowing at BGS goes far beyond performance on the water.  It is about being part of a fantastic community that supports and encourages us all to enjoy our sport, and its success is thanks to everybody involved; whether they’re a rower, cox, the 6am taxi for early morning sessions or the baker of the delicious brownies and cookies we enjoy at events – we thank everybody for making this community such an amazing one to be part of.
