Junior School Wellbeing

By Mrs Thomas (Year 3 Teacher)

On Thursday 10th October, our Junior School proudly marked World Mental Health Day, and it was truly wonderful to see so many girls embracing the theme by wearing yellow accessories. From bright socks to cheerful hair ribbons, the splash of yellow around the school created an uplifting and positive atmosphere.

The theme this year, Making Mental Health a priority in the workplace, sparked open-minded discussions across classrooms, helping the girls understand the importance of mental health and well-being. Teachers guided the year groups through special activities, encouraging mindfulness and emotional awareness, with many girls actively participating in thoughtful conversations about how to care for their mental health.

A particularly memorable activity was the doodling session, where all the girls drew the things in their lives that bring them joy and happiness. From family and friends to hobbies and favourite places, everyone filled their pages with vibrant illustrations focusing on the positive aspects of their lives. This creative expression encouraged them to reflect on the good things they have and reinforced the importance of finding joy in everyday moments.

It was great to see how much the children enjoyed the day, and we hope this experience encourages them to continue caring for their own mental wellbeing and supporting others.
