After some uncertainty with river levels, BGS rowers had their first race of the year at home at Bedford Head on Sunday 13th October.

Every available rower participated, competing in the first division of the day and showcasing impressive skills on a fast-flowing river. It was especially exciting to see competitive junior teams from national clubs attending the event for the first time in many years, which added to the overall racing experience. 

The BGS crews raced in matched boats rather than ranked ones, reflecting the current focus on squad integration. Despite this, the team managed to secure wins in two categories, an encouraging start of the season. The J15 doubles gained valuable experience with plenty of steering practice on the course.  

With a busy training schedule behind them, the rowers can now enjoy a well-deserved week off! We wish all rowers and their supporters a pleasant half term.
