Celebration season is fast approaching in Dance, and our Year 8 students are busy preparing for their Lindy Hop assessments, which they will perform in class.
The Lindy Hop, a lively and expressive swing dance that originated in Harlem during the 1920s and 1930s, is known for its upbeat tempo and creative partner work. It has been a fantastic opportunity for students to explore rhythm, teamwork and choreography in an entirely new way.
Throughout the term, students have been honing their choreography skills, learning how to coordinate intricate moves, and experimenting with contact work, including some tricky lifts and partner sequences. Tackling this energetic style has encouraged them to step out of their comfort zones and their progress has been impressive.
We are looking forward to seeing how the students bring their routines together for the classroom performances. These assessments will not only showcase their technical progress but also reflect their ability to work collaboratively and adapt to the challenges of a new dance style.
