By Mrs Schofield (Head of Year 4)

On Monday, Year 4 were treated to an exciting talk about the advantages of solar energy by Year 4 parent, Mr Smith.

The girls were able to take a close-up look at a full-sized solar panel as well as work with miniature panels to build a simple electrical circuit. These small panels were connected to LED lamps, which were then fed through a hole in the roof of a model building built by Mr Smith.

The girls shone tiny torches onto their panels for the final effect, creating a wonderful multi-coloured glow inside the building.

It was a brilliant hands-on experience that sparked curiosity about renewable energy.
