By Mrs Howard (Year 6 Teacher)
On Tuesday, Year 6 invited their counterparts from Bedford Prep School for a fabulous afternoon of activities on internet safety.
They explored the risks that they could encounter online and became professionals in how to combat difficult situations on different online platforms, how to avoid being conned by deep fakes, and how to develop a campaign on the do’s and don’ts when online.
The students were imaginative with their ideas, in both the drama and campaign workshop’s. They were bold, acting out different situations with new people to highlight online issues they could face online; and they were reflective, in both their wide range of knowledge about online safety and at the end of the day when sharing their experiences and what they had learned. Well done Year 6!
William (Year 6, BPS) said: “I really enjoyed the drama activity, acting out the scenario. I also know what a deepfake is now.”
Isla (Year 6, BGS) commented: “I learned the do’s and don’ts. I thought about them a bit deeper, for example sharing hobbies online is okay but more personal information like your full name and your age is not a good idea.”
Cosima (Year 6, BGS) added: “I really enjoyed learning about deepfakes, especially the part when we had to spot a deep fake/ AI and how AI can be useful but also extremely dangerous. I also enjoyed the fact that we got to listen to other people’s perspectives rather than all the same people since we got mixed up.”
