Bedford Girls’ School is pleased to announce excellent GCSE results, with 71% of all entries achieving A/A* (Grade 7-9), building upon a summer of strong results across A Level and the International Baccalaureate Diploma. A third of the girls in the year group were awarded ten A/A*s (7-9) across their subjects.
28% of entries achieved an extraordinary Grade 9, and over 50% of entries in English Language and English Literature were graded at this highest level. Typically only three to four percent of the national population will be awarded a Grade 9.
Miss Jo MacKenzie, Headmistress of Bedford Girls’ School, said:“Once again in a period of significant change to the examination system we have been able to maintain exceptionally high standards and produce an excellent set of results. They are a reflection of the high calibre of teaching and a testament to the hard work and intelligent application by the girls. They have been achieved whilst the girls also pursue a wide range of co-curricular interests, excelling at music, the performing arts and sport.
I am extremely proud of the girls as I watch them develop into independent young women who have the confidence and skills to embrace the opportunities that their Sixth Form studies will bring. I look forward to seeing them flourish.”
