Sixth Form The Bridge Careers Service

By Ms Drapela (Careers and Sixth Form Administrator)

On Wednesday evening, BGS hosted its International University Evening, where the Bridge Careers Service welcomed parents and students from across the Harpur Trust to find out more about global higher education opportunities.

Mrs Helen Woolley, Director of Sixth Form, introduced our speaker, international university specialist Melanie Moorhouse of The University Guys - an independent organisation that provides support to students in exploring, preparing for and applying to universities all over the world through a number of services. She gave an informative presentation covering all aspects that a student should consider when making an international application: courses and culture; fees and funding; educational approaches and extra-curricular programmes are just some of the factors that need to be weighed up when applying to study outside the UK.

Mrs Whitlock (Head of Careers) said: “We were delighted to welcome so many Harpur Trust families to this international university event. Applying to higher education abroad can be a dizzying prospect, with so many opportunities available, and different admissions expectations, procedures, deadlines and funding requirements to consider. Melanie’s expert advice was invaluable in giving students guidance on how to manage the process and position themselves for success.”

It was wonderful to see the assembly hall filled with students and parents considering global university applications, and we look forward to following their progress over the coming years.
